THE OPPORTUNITY

Looking for a role doing what you love at a dynamic and innovative consulting firm? We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Kelowna, BC on a permanent full-time basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Civil Engineering projects, creating, managing, and preparing engineering designs, studies, and reports for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Assess the opportunity viability for pursuing a proposal by engaging team members and selecting proposal writer if appropriate.
  • Provide non-technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Identify and implement process improvements with the broader team to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage client relationships and projects to ensure client expectations and project performance goals are being met.
  • Develop new business opportunities and establish strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners.
  • Provide construction contract administration for high value or importance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure successful group operation.
  • Completing the required safety forms for each project their staff are working on and ensuring that safety policies and procedures are being followed by themselves and the team.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship of junior and intermediate members of the Team, contributing technical expertise to conceptual design, detailed design, and construction administration activities.
  • Weekly and monthly reporting and participation in design and team meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Some travel throughout British Columbia may be required in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university with at least 12 years of relevant, Canadian work experience.
  • Must be registered, or be eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer in BC.
  • Ability to design all municipal civil infrastructure, including but not limited to sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  • Proven success leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
  • Excellent Project Management skills, preference give to those with PMP certification.
  • Excellent Contract Administration skills, preference give to those with MMCD CCA certification.
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and have exceptional organization skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the desire to excel and achieve success for the firm, the client, and the team.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Knowledge of computer software packages for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Experience preparing stormwater management plans (ISMPs), master drainage plans (MDP), site stormwater management plans, and watershed plans.
  • Experience with water & wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting, legislation and regulations including the RAPR.
  • Familiarity with relevant EGBC Professional Practice Guidelines.
