THE OPPORTUNITY
Looking to do what you love at a dynamic and Innovative consulting firm? We are looking for a Junior Civil Engineer / Junior Engineering Technologist to join our Civil Department at our Kelowna / Penticton location on a permanent full-time basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the civil engineering design for municipal, commercial, and land development projects, including water modeling, wastewater design, stormwater modeling, site grading, and road design.
- Provide design and drafting support for various infrastructure improvement projects, including residential land development, commercial/institutional sites, stormwater management, roads, and highways using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Research relevant bylaws, codes, and standards, and apply them to the design.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering studies, specifications, and reports.
- Prepare construction documents and conduct construction field reviews.
- Travel to project sites to conduct field reviews, surveying, and field data collection.
- Act as a contractor liaison and provide support to the contract administrator as required.
- Participate in daily reporting and design and team meetings.
- Assist with other duties as required from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed a degree in Civil Engineering or a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a Canadian university or college, or a recognized international equivalent.
- At least 1-5 years of relevant work experience in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia, or as an Applied Science Technologist in British Columbia.
- Understanding of municipal and land development infrastructure design, including relevant codes and standards.
- Experience in construction field review requirements and reporting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong English communication skills, including verbal and technical writing, analysis, presentation, and interpersonal communication.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills, with exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A safety-oriented attitude.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience with land development and municipal infrastructure improvement projects.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software packages, such as EPANET and SWMM.
- Experience with water and wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
- Familiarity with environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations, including the RAPR.
- Familiarity with the MMCD, local codes, and standards, and relevant EGBC Professional Practice Guidelines.
- Strong technical writing skills for design reports and proposals.
- Project management experience.
